The Recirculate project addresses the most pressing challenges facing the European battery recycling sector and battery logistics. The main objective of the project is to improve the efficiency of battery repair, reuse, remanufacturing and recycling. Our task is to integrate and test an AI-based, robotised electric car batteries dismantling and sorting system.

Eleven partners from different countries are working together to address the key challenges facing the battery recycling sector by combining advanced technologies. For example, artificial intelligence will be used for automated dismantling and smart logistics solutions for the safe storage and transport of batteries and battery materials. Blockchain technology will be used to track key battery data and battery location.
The virtual marketplace will enable the creation of new circular business models for the repair, reuse, remanufacturing and recycling of used batteries. This will minimise costs, time, energy and environmental impact while maximising the value of batteries.
The European Union has provided €4.9 million in funding for the project.
