Greenhouse automation and robotics in the Agrarsense project

Food security is a global challenge, with the rapidly increasing impacts of climate change, supply chains, labour shortages, political and military attacks, among others. This is why it is important for us to improve productivity of agriculture and forestry. In Agrarsense, we are developing greenhouse automation and robotics to reduce resource wastage and optimise the farming process. This will help reduce the environmental impact of greenhouse farming and greenhouse gas emissions.

EU project

Agrarsense

The Agrarsense project aims to develop cutting-edge technology solutions to improve the sustainability and productivity of agriculture and forestry. The project brings together European SMEs, large companies and research organisations to develop solutions to improve food security, reduce climate impact and use natural resources more efficiently.

The project is divided into seven use cases focusing on the development of greenhouse farming, vertical farming, viticulture, agricultural robotics, forestry, soil quality monitoring and intelligent water management systems. Probot Ltd will focus on the first of these, greenhouse farming.

The consortium consists of 52 partners from 15 European countries and has a budget of €51 million. The project is funded by the EU’s Key Digital Technologies Joint Undertaking and national research funding and will run for three years.

Our focus

Greenhouse automation and robotised greenhouse logistics

In the Agrarsense project, we focus in particular on more efficient management of greenhouse automation and robotised greenhouse logistics. By improving greenhouse production and improving the timeliness of production, it is possible to significantly reduce waste and reduce the environmental impact of greenhouse production.

The project will develop solutions to manage greenhouse logistics and picking robotics equipment and optimise operations through task management and digital twin. The developed solutions will be tested on Probot’s own Dolly™ robotic platforms.
